About

At the turn of the decade I became acutely aware of the declining prevalence of Jazz music and musicians. As a musician myself, I’m wholly immersed in music, not only as a creator but as a consumer. While I’m not entirely surprised at the decline given the development of digital production, I did find it necessary to discuss what brought it about, what remains and what the future might look like. By revisiting the birth of jazz, following it’s evolution and delving into its modern day iteration we hope to carve a way forward and preserve both the art and the musician. Not merely for the sake of preservation, but more for reference and influence. If we lose or forget the emotion, the complexities, the layered harmonies and fluidity of jazz, the effect to music as a whole is detrimental. Music is a web, each thread relying on another to ensure the integrity of the entire structure. Our effort here is to ensure that jazz continues to weave through, for the sake of all music.
